Brutal Assault 2024 with GAUPA

"The Drunk Autopussy wants to fight you..."

This Gaupa song title is how Spotify introduced me to this Swedish Stoner Rock band. Their music quickly filled up my playlist, and after a while I decided to write them for a collaboration.

My intention was to get to know the persons behind the music and try to give their fans an authentic glimpse into who they really are.

I exchanged mail for several weeks with David. The initial idea was just to spend a couple of hours in their company, but in the end we decided to meet for their 3 days stop in Prague for Brutal Assault, one of the most renowned rock metal festivals in Europe, taking place in the 18th-century army fortress Josefov.

I must say I was quite excited to meet them but I didn't know what to expect: socializing is quite different in Swedish and Italian culture, so I told to myself "Don't be too Italian, they are probably very reserved and quiet. Be professional and polite, that's it."

Well. I arrived at the Hotel late on Friday night and was received at reception by a tipsy Jimmy with a loud and friendly: "Mr Galligani!".

A big smile crossed my face, man, I was wrong. I was received and treated as a friend for the whole three days.

They are a very friendly, nice and humble band, and these three days represent some of the best memories of the whole year.
